Hi there. Remember me?
I’m the woman who used to make a lot of pie, and knitted things, and delicious food. I used to walk the dog and hang out with friends and do the grocery shopping and laundry and all those things. And then I became the woman who slept for an entire week, at times uncontrollably. I’m pretty sure there’s still a Rose-shaped imprint in the futon, where I did the bulk of my day-sleeping.
I gotta say, as much as I do love me some sleep, I am done. I get my fair share of head colds over the course of the year, but it is a very rare occurrence for me to get as sick as I was last week. Our whole house (right down to the poor dog) got it, one after another, but the guys bounced back much more quickly than I did, though Mr. Pie was sicker on his worst day than I was on mine. Still, mine stuck with me for most of the week, and even after the worst of being really sick was over, I was left with a brutal energy debt that meant that, even though I was no longer actively sick, I was still exhausted and useless.
But anyway! I have survived my dead week, I made it through the weekend with only one uncontrolled sleep attack (and that was after both dim sum and eggnog, so it’s not exactly troubling), I can breathe again! Just in time to wash literally every piece of clothing that we own, try to find a bathing suit in Seattle in December (yay?), figure out how to replace my Crock Pot lid (funny story, coming soon), knit a tiny baby hat (hopefully), remind the dog that she does love and respect me (walks, bitches!), and have us ready to be at the airport at the buttcrack of not-unreasonably early on Saturday morning for 10 days in the sun.
There’s not a lot to tell about my missing week. Still, this one should be chock-full of adventures. I cannot tell you how glad I am to be back. Let’s take some Vitamin C and get this show back on the road!
