Friends, I cannot tell you how happy I am that peaches are actually starting to come into season. I love the bejeebus out of some peaches, let me tell you. Nothing brings out the imaginary Southern girl in me like peaches (not even bourbon!). That may not be a good thing, but it is a fact. And you know what peaches love? Strawberries. It’s true! I saw them making out on the street during a hockey riot! (Also, seriously, hockey riot? I do not get sport fanaticism. Whatever).
Anyway, I’ve been terrible this week. There are a couple things to blame. One: my favorite lady is not-unexpectedly but heartbreakingly moving back to her home country of Long Island. In 2 weeks. KILLING ME! Also, apparently I completely forgot to take my Vitamin D for the last, oh, forever, and now I can’t find it. My bad housekeeping will be the death of me. And somehow in my mopey mess, I forgot that I seriously love making pie, and that it makes me feel better. Silly me.
There is good news in all of this, of course! I am making you an awesome pie! And instead of being sad about my dear friend moving away and how that means I will literally never see her ever again until we both die (OK, that’s probably not true), this pie is full of happiness for the awesome times we have shared together. Like the time she got Mr. Pie and me to the train station so we wouldn’t be late for our wedding, and many cheap beers enjoyed in the dive bars of Olympia, and the weird way that she knits inside out. You want to win this pie. I promise.
