Greetings, friends! How was your weekend?
Team Pie has known for many weeks that this past weekend was basically going to be our single busiest period of time in 2011, and possibly ever. I don’t want to bore you with the details, so we’ll let it suffice to say that there was not part of this weekend (starting Friday afternoon) that at least one of us didn’t have something scheduled, including the point last night where I went to bed and Mr. Pie was still up and working. Ri-diclous. But despite being so heavily scheduled that we needed a clone, it was a great weekend for pie, and for that sense of hard-earned satisfaction one gets after taking care of serious business. I took away some excellent things to think about out of this weekend, but honestly, I’m still trying to reconcile myself to the fact that it’s Monday, so I’m going to have to wait to share my excitement with you, I think.
I will share this, though: I woke up this morning totally in love with my bicycle. This shouldn’t come as a huge shock to anyone, really. For as reluctant as I was to get on it, and as much as I still feel like (and really am) a novice, the more time I spend riding, and the more I encourage myself (reluctantly, with panic and doubt) to push outside my comfort zone, the happier I am that Mr. Pie convinced me to take the plunge. On Saturday I rode as many miles in one day as I do in a normal week, and not only was it something I was able to accomplish (that is: I didn’t die half way through from exhaustion), but it was actually not that bad. Of course, I skipped the part with the really nasty hill, but I ride a fairly nasty hill pretty regularly, so whatever. And after all of that, I just want to do more! Particularly, I want to put a pie-carrying apparatus on my bike and roll out into the world, full of tiny pies and grump. I also love that my love for my bike seems to be convincing a far-away friend that she needs to get back on one. And that is something I never thought I would be responsible for.
Pie Business: Yes, pie lottery this week! Grumpy Little Pies, again, because you all love them so much. Type To Be Determined. Additionally, I’m making pies mid-week, and would love to sell you some. You just let me know, OK? rose at grumpypie dot com.
